Abstract

This research was intended to find out what and how the independent learning competency of the students of State University of Jakarta. Data were collected by using questionnaires. The scope of study was limited to the students of School of Education, State University of Jakarta. Samples were chosen by using purposive sampling technique. Research findings show that: (1) based on independent learning method, all students of State University of Jakarta can implement independent learning, (2) based on the goals of independent learning the students are expected to have responsibility to themselves and the implementation of independent learning. Further, this research gives some suggestions such as: (1) university, especially School of Education should provide infrastructure, trainings, and compatible components; (2) the lectures should have appropriate knowledge and concept in independent learning; and (3) the students should practice constructivism and active learning as well as to learn without depending on other people.

Abstract

University students have to learn independently. They must have skills of how to learn: thinking ability, thinking process, and learning motivation. Those abilities in cognitive psychology are known as self-regulated learning. This research involve 128 students of Education Faculty of Jakarta State University to know about description of self-regulated learning, difference of self-regulated learning between study programs, and correlation of self-regulated learning withacademic achievement.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to gain the empirical data about learning of writing skill at third class elementary school (SDN Bedahan 01 Sawangan Depok) through quantum learning method, This class action research is hold by using cycle model from Stephen Kemmis and Mc Taggart. This research is done through the following phases: planning, acting, observation, reflecting, and evaluating as the basic of re-planning for the next cycles. The result for every cycle is as follows: the first cycle average of writing composition skills equals to 58.54%, whereas the second cycle raising to 69.37%, and at the third cycle increasing more and more with the average score 76.77%. The implication result of this research shows that quantum learning method motivates the student of the third class of elementary school to learn composition. This method can make the student become self-confidence and proactive in building their imagination and creativity to write in a joyful situation.

Abstract

This survey is aiming to analyse the effect of achievement motivation and interpersonal communication attitude towards the effectiveness of principal leadership both individually and in batches. The result of survey indicates that the effectiveness of principal leadership is predicted to be improved; achievement motivation and interpersonal communication attitude of principals must be stimulated intensively. The stimulus is intended to create a condition where the principals have chances to gain high achievement motivation and a positive communication attitude. In order to improve achievement motivation, it is recommended that promotion to be a principal is not a termination of a carrier, to make inventory, documentation and publication of achievement values, and to give achievement motivation test to principal candidates. To create positive interpersonal communication attitude, it is necessary to give them a kind of interpersonal communication training. At the same time, school management laboratory is needed to facilitate the improvement of those independent variables simultaneously besides helping principals to overcome some problems dealing with decentralization.

Abstract

National education transparency refers to periodic report that is honest about result reached in every education program. With the existence of the report, public can participate more actively and education program can take place better. The strong learning interest from public needs to be triggered and enhanced and is performed to build and develop learningteaching society. If the transparency has been established, learning interest can be accelerated and the Indonesian people will become smart. Education is carried out by empowering society. Therefore there will be mutual complementary cooperation between government and society.

Abstract

This article is of the opinion that quality improvement of Special Education in Indonesia is slow due to ( a) perception of public and the Government assuming that education of students with special needs is less important, ( b) wrong perception about Special Education regarding special education is for handicapped children only,( c) incorrect orientation in the education management which gives priority to intellectuality aspect, ( d) management of Special Education by segregation , ( e) policy in the management of national education using approach of education production function or input-output analysis which is not executed consequently, ( f) management of education is executed in bureaucratic centralization ( g) education service paying less attention to individual requirement of students, and ( h) human resource in Special Education still has to be improved. After analyzing the existing conditions critically from various aspects, this article provides a set of recommendations, mostly concerning with policy at national and regional levels.

Abstract

Education for all has been stipulated in the Preamble of 1945 Constitution of Republic of Indonesia. As from the proclamation of Independence Day, the Indonesian government has been developing national education to give the Indonesians equal and broad opportunity to have access for education. This article discusses the implementation of nine years’ compulsory education program to provide the citizens with equal access for education and simultanously to improve basic education quality. The discussion is focused in planning, implementation, and outcomes of the program, as it is assumed that the three aspects are inter-related each others in achieving the target. The discussion concludes, the nine years’ compulsory education program in Indonesia is implemented through improving the opportunity to have basic education for all school age children and simultaneously to accelerate the quality of education. However, to reach the target of quality some recommendations are provided.

Abstract

Teaching is principally based on pedagogi and andragogi. Pedagogi is normally used to teach young learners, while andragogi is used for adults. However in practice pedagogi which tends to transfer knowledge and make passive learning is often used for adults. This article discusses how andragogi can be used to make teaching human and how to humanize learners by using andragogi. It is believed that andragogi can create active learning in which the learners can meet their needs such as esteem and self actualization. Discussing humanistic andragogi from different views this article concludes its importance and advantages in life long learning and provides some suggestion how to carry out humanistic andragogi for active, creative,innovative and joyfull learning.

Abstract

This article discusses the important roles of the teachers in educating people to have smart life. To enable the teachers to perform their tasks professionally, some requirements have to be fulfilled. The Indonesian government has already conducted a number of efforts to improve the teacher professionalism. However, some hindrances are still faced. Having analyzed the existing situation, the article suggests some ideas to improve the teacher professionalism.

Abstract

Innovation is needed to solve many kinds of problem in human life. Monotony or boredom can be also avoided by creative and innovative ways of doing things. This article describes the importance of innovation in instructional strategies. Four examples of innovation in instructional strategy at school and one example in improving the community welfare are presented and analysed. The article concludes that to succeed the implementation of an innovation, a set of procedures in difusing should be followed properly.
